SCU Career Center

I joined the SCU Career Center team in May 2017 as the Lead Web Developer and continued to assist with projects until graduating in June 2020. A few of my roles included the following:

  • Strategy & Operations

    • First student speaker invited to speak at University Marketing & Communications (UMC) Marketing Summit at Santa Clara University. I presented "A DIY Approach to Usability Testing" on behalf of my work with the Career Center.

    • Presented Social Media & Marketing suggestions to Career Center staff to increase student participation and awareness of Career Center events and services.

    • Completed a thorough audit of the entire SCU website to assess which sites from other groups and departments could have included references to the Career Center site. Discussed potential for partnership and resource-sharing with the School of Engineering Director of Digital Services.

  • Research

    • Collected four years' worth of data, including unique pageviews, mobile ranking, previous and next links, and average time spent on each page.

    • Utilized the data collected to conduct usability testing, which led to a new wave of redesigns throughout the site, including the navigation bar, Jobs & Internships page, and Job Prep Toolkit.

  • UX Design

    • I've spent most of my design efforts on the Salary & Negotations and Resumes pages.

    • To improve the accessibility of the design, I added alt text to all images throughout.

My presentation on A DIY Approach to Usability Testing to over 60 Marketing & Communications admin at Santa Clara University. I reflected on the importance of data collection and usability testing in enhancing user experiences.
